Courtney Swain is an expressive and passionate musician with a dual degree from Berklee College of Music. Combining her perspectives as a classical pianist and a contemporary vocalist, her performances enamor audiences with a unique blend of styles, vocal range, keyboard technique, and candid emotion.
A dedicated and determined indie artist, Courtney is the front woman and the driving force behind Boston-based art rock band Bent Knee. Independently, Courtney and Bent Knee have booked and travel from coast to coast in the US, playing shows, performing live scores to silent films, and teaching clinics. Most recently, she booked and lead the Bent Knee Trio on a Japan tour, taking along her two latest releases; her solo album “Claws of the Beasts Inside (2013)“, and “Live and Nearly Unplugged (2013)” by the Bent Knee Trio.
On the road, Courtney teaches clinics and workshops for diverse demographics from music-enthusiasts to conservatory students, and she also teaches privately in Boston. In addition to teaching technique, she strives for an all-around musical development by incorporating topics about musicianship, stage performance, improvisation, theory, acoustics, and production into her lessons.
